Animals Series

The animals I choose to paint express a personality I find interesting.  I do not ascribe human attributes and feelings to animals, rather I want to show how their varying animal personalities cause them to interrelate with people and their environment in sometimes amusing and sometimes profound ways.

For example, the decidedly non-intimidating Bichon Frise proudly defending his house in “Watchdog” is comical in his inability to realistically assess his fearsomeness. The dog in “Sheeba at Napeague Bay” displays a quiet confidence. “After the Jump” shows the teamwork between horse and rider, a product of their close working relationship.
